In general, Online Backup concept consists of two phases:

Initial data seeding – when full backup copy is being transmitted to the online storage vault and then synchronized with the client software.

Incremental backup – transmits only changed data in efficient delta-block level process. There is no single file transmitted to the online storage twice effectively shortening backup time window. On average, the backup process of 500GB takes less than an hour to complete.

It is important to note, that both phases described above are preceded by Data Compression and De-Duplication processes that improve accuracy and decrease the amount of data and hence the cost of storage.
